On February 13, 2021, the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) announced that its proposed Accessible Transportation Planning and Reporting regulations were published in the Canada Gazette for public view. You can view a full version of the regulations here (link).
The proposed Regulations detail how federally regulated Transportation Service Providers (TSPs) would be required to prepare and publish an accessibility plan, as well as develop feedback processes and progress reports “that will ensure the identification and removal of barriers.”
TSPs include various companies, which operate a variety of transportation methods and which cross provincial boundaries. It would also apply to international service providers which operate in Canada.
Canadians have until April 18, 2021 to review the proposed regulations and offer their feedback. More Information on how to provide feedback can be found here (link).
On March 10, 2021, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm (ET), ARCH Disability Law Centre will be holding a webinar about the CTA’s draft regulations. For more information about the webinar and to RSVP click here (link).
