The Globe and Mail’s Lisa Priest reports on the 4,000-signature petition being sent to Ontario’s Health Minister today, demanding that cancer patient Sylvia de Vries be reimbursed for the $60,000 she spent at a U.S. hospital to have a massive tumour removed. The petition also requests that George Smitherman remove the “red tape” barriers to accessing out-of-country care. Bakerlaw is legal counsel to Ms. de Vries.
