The Law Society’s Equity and Indigenous Affairs Committee has just released a report on the activities of the Duty and Harassment Counsel of the Law Society of Ontario (LSO). The report shows that there been a 50% increase in discrimination complaints against lawyers this year, including complaints by members of the public and other legal professionals. » Read the rest

9 years ago, our client filed an HRTO application detailing how she had been sexually assaulted, solicited, threatened, and harassed in her workplace and in her home. The assaults were perpetrated by her boss who was also her landlord. It was a long journey, but earlier this year we welcomed the Tribunal’s decision affirming the discrimination and pattern of victimization she experienced. » Read the rest

Since 2016, Bakerlaw has been fighting to have Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) provided in Ontario schools on behalf of our young client, Jack.

As a result of our clients’ successful litigation at the Canadian Transportation Agency, VIA Rail proposed revisions to its policy regarding mobility devices to now permit two devices to be tied down on its trains. Previously, VIA’s policy only permitted one mobility device at a time to be tied down on its trains. » Read the rest

Our clients are celebrating a major victory over VIA Rail.
Our clients, are husband and wife and are both persons with disabilities who use scooters to assist in their mobility. VIA Rail trains only have one tie-down space per train and as a result, our clients have been forced to travel separately or risk damage to their scooters by having them stowed improperly. » Read the rest
