How can we help?

If you would like to retain us to act on your behalf regarding your legal issues, we can prepare a retainer agreement and guide you through whatever formal or informal legal process you’re going through. In this type of arrangement, you retain us to act as your lawyers and the retainer agreement outlines what we have agreed to do for you.

Sometimes individuals are excellent self-advocates. In those instances, we may be able to offer a consultation to help you determine whether or not you have a legal problem, what type of resolution is realistically achievable and what procedures (both informal and formal) should be followed.

How much does a lawyer cost?

This is a tricky one. Human rights lawyer fees can vary across Ontario. We have lawyers based on Toronto, Ottawa and London. Litigation is dynamic and the path one matter takes may vary greatly from another matter with a similar issue. We do not provide estimates. What we can provide you with is clear information about our rates and billing practice. We strive to keep our overhead low so that we can offer excellent legal services for a reasonable price. For some, that price will still be too much. In some instances, we may be able to assist you in securing funds from the Legal Aid Ontario Test Cases program (link) or the Court Challenges Program (link). We have also supported clients in crowdfunding campaigns. If you are interested in discussing any of these options, please raise these in early discussions with us.
